WINTER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION
Friday 21 to Sunday 23 June 2024

The Blue Mountains community will be celebrating the Winter Solstice with a wonderful variety of creative and performing art events held over the weekend of Friday 21 to Sunday 23 June 2024.

However, this year’s celebration will look different to last year’s Winter Magic Festival. We will not be closing Katoomba Street for the festivities, which means there is no parade or street stalls.

Why? Like the solstice itself, we are at a time of transition and reflection. The 2024 Winter Solstice Celebration will be smaller than last year to match the resources available to us* and will have a local community focus. This will give us the time we need to plan for a bigger community cultural extravaganza in the future.

We are currently working on the program of fun and fabulous activities for this year’s Winter Solstice Celebration with more information available in early April. In the meantime, here is a taste of what’s on offer:

• Get Folked will once again showcase an array of traditional and contemporary folk music from ‘up the road’ and across the state
• An exhilarating fireworks display will light up the Katoomba night sky
• a dazzling and fun-filled night at Winter Solstice Ball hosted by The Carrington Hotel
